I smashed my head on a rock that tore my scalp off; leaving skull fractures, crushed organs, and a shattered ankle. In front of TV cameras, I plunged again, 100 feet. A helicopter shined a light as experts rappelled to get my dead body. I was alive. Torn flesh required 130 stitches - 70 stitches to hold my scalp together. I lay comatose on life support. God healed me.
After nearly a month I left the hospital. Jesus lead me to a point of surrender. One day, I drove past the Pali Ridge and heard God’s Spirit. “Danny, I saved you, to go wherever I send you, to tell people about the love, hope and purpose found in Jesus Christ.” My response: “Lord, if You can make something of a broken person like me, have Your way. I’ll be what you want me to be, say what you want me to say, go where you want me to go and do what you want me to do.”
Things Got Worse...
My brain injury caused changes. A contrast from being prom king and a captain of my varsity football team. Events lead to a nervous breakdown, depression, a fight, my arrest, and hours in jail—while still a teen.
